Connecting Farmers to Buyers: Famoriyo’s Market Linkage Initiative
For many rural farmers, growing crops is only half the battle. Without direct access to buyers, they’re often forced to sell at low prices to middlemen, losing potential income and economic control.
Famoriyo Foundation launched the Market Linkage Initiative to connect farmers directly to retail outlets, food vendors, and wholesalers. Using local aggregators and digital platforms, farmers are able to showcase their produce and negotiate fair prices.
Since the program’s launch, over 150 farmers have accessed new markets. Some report a 30% increase in profits, while others have formed long-term supply partnerships. One cassava farmer shared, “I now sell directly to a factory in town—no more middlemen!”
Famoriyo plans to scale this initiative by organizing community trade fairs, onboarding tech partners for real-time price tracking, and training farmers on packaging and logistics. The goal is to empower farmers to own the full value of their harvest.
