Meet Our Founders & Grand Royal Patron

Prof. Olusegun Akanni Famoriyo

Founder

Born on August 13, 1939, in Ile-Ife, Nigeria, Professor Famoriyo was an esteemed academic and policy advocate. After earning his Agricultural Economics degree from King’s College, Newcastle (University of Durham), he went on to complete postgraduate work at the University of Ibadan and earned a Ph.D. in Land Economics from Wye College, University of London. He was the first professor and head of the department of Farm Management and Agricultural Extension at the Federal University of Technology, Akure. Professor Famoriyo's work extended beyond academia. He served as a consultant for the World Bank, FAO, and UNDP, championing policies that directly benefited Nigeria's rural farmers. His commitment to land reform, credit access, and poverty alleviation laid the foundation for this Endowment.

Mrs. Taiwo Adedoyin Famoriyo

Founder

For over 35 years, Mrs. Famoriyo stood as a compassionate force beside her husband. Her silent advocacy for women, children, and grassroots welfare programs made her a vital part of their shared vision. Her nurturing spirit and deep concern for rural mothers and the girl child in particular gives the Foundation its caring heart.

Late Oba Okunade Sijuwade, Olubuse II

Royal Grand Patron

Oba Okunade Sijuwade, Olubuse II (1930–2015), was the 50th Ooni of Ife and a revered Yoruba monarch. Before ascending the throne in 1980, he built a successful career in business, both in Nigeria and the UK. As Ooni, he was known for his efforts to promote Yoruba culture, foster unity, and engage the diaspora. His reign blended tradition with modern influence, earning him national and international respect. Our beloved Royal Grand Patron officially launched the foundation in 2012.

Stories of Strength

How It Started

The vision of the Endowment was born from the late Professor Famoriyo’s life-long work across rural Nigeria.

Inspired by countless stories of underserved farmers, he envisioned a structure that would live beyond him.

The Foundation was formally established posthumously to extend his academic and long-term mission—now guided by their children, professionals, and advocates who share the same heart for impact.
